The simple answer is that it is basically playing table tennis with a football, oh and instead of paddles you use your body, sounds fun right?
Well admittedly there is more to it then that, so lets get into what TEQBALL is.
It is a rapidly growing sport that you play with a standard football on a TEQBALL table which is just a curved table tennis like table (see picture for reference)
Similar to football in TEQBALL you can make contact with the ball with any part of your body except from your hands or arms. The aim of the game is to return the ball to your opponent without it hitting the ground in 3 touches or less. very similar to table tennis apart from the fact that the ball is 20x the size and your body is the paddle.
The game can be played in singles format or as doubles. TEQBALL is a non contact sport meaning that anyone can get involved and play against anyone else!
Unsurprisingly TEQBALL was invented by a group of football fans from Hungary in 2014. The vision for the sport was devised by former pro player Gábor Borsányi who had previously attempted playing football on a table tennis table, however due to the flatness of a table tennis table the ball would often bounce unfavourably. So Gábor thought of the curved table idea, which lead to the magnificent creation of TEQBALL.
TEQBALL as a sport was named the worlds fastest growing sport in 2018, a big reason for the sports fast rise is due to the amount of pro and ex-pro football players that have been endorsing it. Ronaldinho is just one of the big names of ex football players who are now ambassadors of TEQBALL. Along with current players such as Messi and Neymar who have been seen indulging in the sport of TEQBALL.
The rise of TEQBALL has also been so rapid due to football players using the sport to improve their technical skills and ball control as the nature of the game is to control the football and return it using only a few touches.
With the Extreme growth of TEQBALL there are now many competitions for aspiring players to show what they can do. Most notably the TEQBALL world championship is a competition that see's the best TEQBALL players in the world compete to see who the best players in the world are.
TEQBALL has also been added to other major sporting events such as the Asian Beach Games and the European Games. Whilst still not an official Olympic sport, TEQBALL is definitely closing in on being an official sport in the Olympics soon due to it's rapid growth and exciting play style.
